This course is more suited to IT professionals with specific PPO responsibilities than managers seeking a more general, high-level overview.

Prerequisites

You need to hold the ITIL V3 Foundation certificate to enrol for this course. You can also attend this course if you hold both the ITIL V2 Foundation and Foundation Bridge certificates.

In addition, it is recommended that you have an exposure to IT service management within your own organisation, ideally including disaster recovery, security, demand, capacity or availability management.

Attending the Service Design Course first or reading the core ITIL publications (especially Service Design) is also highly recommended.


Certification

Successful candidates obtain the ITIL Capability certificate in Planning, Protection and Optimisation..

The 90 minute exam contains 8 multiple choice, gradient scored questions with a pass mark of 28 correct answers from 40 (70%).

This certificate also counts as 4 credits towards the 22 required to obtain the ITIL V3 Expert qualification.

IT Service Continuity Management

Exploring how the process can be used to create business value. The relationship with PPO practices in each of the four stages of IT service continuity management

Information Security Management

An in-depth overview of the process activities, metrics and relationship with other processes

Demand Management

Understanding the concepts and patterns of demand management. How to manage demand and the activities involved

Day Three

Technology and Implementation

How the use of technology supports the processes within PPO. Key considerations for PPO implementation

Challenges, Critical Success Factors and Risks

How to overcome common challenges and risks when implementing PPO processes, activities and methods

Day Four

Roles and Responsibilities

Learn the key roles and responsibilities for executing each process step within PPO

Exam Preparation

A period for any last minute revision with the trainer present. A full mock paper is also taken before the full exam
